David Fastenberg, M.D.
Dr. Fastenberg earned his Bachelor of Arts from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and received his M.D. from New York Medical College. He completed an internship in Internal Medicine at Metropolitan Hospital Medical Center. His residency in Ophthalmology was completed at Northwestern University in Chicago. Dr. Fastenberg subsequently completed his fellowship in Medical and Surgical Disorders of the Retina and Vitreous at the Estelle Doheny Eye Institute at the University of Southern California School of Medicine in Los Angeles. He has been a partner with Long Island and Queens Vitreo-Retinal Consultants (LIVR) since 1982.
Dr. Fastenberg is the vice clinical chairman of the department of ophthalmology at North Shore Long Island Jewish Health System. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is a member of the American Medical Association, Retina Society, Vitreous Society, and the New York State Ophthalmologic Society. He has previously held the position of President in The Long Island Ophthalmologic Society and is on the Board of Trustees at Nassau University Medical Center as a Nassau County Legislative appointee He is involved in numerous clinical trials at LIVR as the Principal and Co Investigator for Diseases such as Macula Degeneration, Diabetic Retinopathy and Retinal Vascular Occlusions.
He has been listed in New York Magazine, Castle Connally Guide and Best Doctors Guide in America for his contribution to the Retina Vitreous Field.
