Philip Ferrone, M.D.
Dr. Ferrone earned his Bachelors of Science from Union College magna cum laude and received his M.D. from Harvard Medical School cum laude with special honors. He completed an internship at Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Massachusetts and his residency in Ophthalmology at Duke University Eye Center. He subsequently completed a fellowship in vitreoretinal diseases and surgery at Associated Retinal Consultants. He was Chief Resident and a faculty member at the Duke University Eye Center where he gained extensive experience in ocular trauma.
Dr. Ferrone is on the Board of Directors of the American Society of Retinal Specialists. He is also a member of the Retina Society, and American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is the former president of the Long Island Ophthalmologic Society, and is a member of the New York State Ophthalmologic Society. Dr. Ferrone has received an Honor award and Senior Honor Award from the American Society of Retinal Specialists, and has been the Principal Investigator in numerous National Trials investigating new drugs and treatments for retinal disease. He has specializes in pediatric as well as adult retinal diseases and regularly teaches courses at the American Academy of Ophthalmology and American Society of Retinal Specialists Meetings. In addition, at national and international meetings every year he presents original scientific retinal research to help advance the treatment of retinal disease.
